Apple Unveils a New Range of Smart Home Devices under its Apple Home Collection, introducing security cameras, a video doorbell, a smart door lock, thermostats, and temperature sensors designed to work seamlessly with Apple Home. Developed in collaboration with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, the new accessories focus on home security, energy management, convenience, and privacy.
Announced on October 13, 2026, the Apple Home Collection brings together several smart home products in a unified ecosystem. Users can set up compatible accessories with a single tap on an iPhone and manage them through Apple’s Home app without downloading separate applications or creating additional accounts. The new products are scheduled to begin arriving in December, with some accessories expected in early 2027.
Apple Unveils a New Range of Smart Home Devices for Home Security
One of the biggest highlights of the new Apple Home Collection is its range of security cameras and door-access accessories developed with LG Electronics.
The camera lineup includes indoor and outdoor models, with video resolution of up to 2.5K. The cameras can recognize people, familiar faces, pets, vehicles, and packages, helping homeowners monitor activity around their properties.
The indoor camera can automatically adjust its viewing angle when users check in remotely and return to its resting position when a household member arrives home. The outdoor models offer features such as low-light color night vision, while built-in storage helps preserve recordings during Wi-Fi outages.
Compatible cameras also support secure video history through iCloud+. On eligible plans, Apple Intelligence can generate descriptions of recorded events and help users search footage using natural-language queries.
Apple’s new lineup also includes a wired video doorbell and a smart deadbolt lock. Together, these products allow homeowners to see visitors, communicate with them, receive notifications, and manage door access through the Apple Home ecosystem. The smart lock uses Ultra Wideband technology to detect an approaching user and can identify whether the door has been opened, closed, or tampered with.
Smart Thermostats Bring More Control Over Home Energy Use
Beyond security, Apple Unveils a New Range of Smart Home Devices that also targets everyday comfort and energy management.
The collection introduces smart thermostats from LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. Both are designed to work with a broad range of heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems, while compatible temperature and humidity sensors help users monitor conditions across different rooms.
The Home app includes an Adaptive Temperature feature that can adjust heating and cooling based on household routines, such as when residents are home, preparing for bed, or away. In supported US locations, Clean Energy Guidance can also shift heating and cooling to periods when electricity is cleaner or less expensive, depending on the user’s utility plan.
LG and Schneider Electric will also offer separate temperature and humidity sensors. These accessories provide additional room-level readings, giving users more control over comfort without relying on a single thermostat reading.
The thermostats and sensors support Matter, the smart home connectivity standard, and are designed to simplify installation with features such as on-device wire detection.
Apple Home Collection Connects Devices Through One Ecosystem
A major selling point of the Apple Home Collection is how its accessories work together.
Rather than requiring separate applications for different products, compatible devices can be managed through the Apple Home app and controlled using Siri. The collection also supports Thread, a wireless networking technology designed to help compatible smart home devices communicate reliably.
Users can create automated routines that coordinate several accessories at once. For example, a morning routine could adjust the thermostat, change an indoor camera’s viewing position, and start music on a HomePod. Another automation could lock the door and activate camera monitoring when the last household member leaves.
These connected features are intended to reduce the amount of manual work involved in managing a smart home. However, some functions depend on compatible Apple devices, a supported home hub, and the availability of specific features in the user’s region.
Privacy Remains a Key Part of Apple’s Smart Home Strategy
Apple is emphasizing privacy as another important feature of its new smart home lineup.
According to the company, Home app data and camera footage are protected with end-to-end encryption, preventing Apple, LG Electronics, and Schneider Electric from accessing the protected information. Camera footage can be processed locally on a compatible home hub or through Apple’s Private Cloud Compute infrastructure.
For users with a supported iCloud+ plan, camera event footage can be stored in encrypted form for up to 10 days. This approach is intended to give homeowners access to useful monitoring features without sacrificing control over their personal data.

What Apple’s New Smart Home Devices Mean for Users
Apple Unveils a New Range of Smart Home Devices at a time when consumers increasingly expect home security, climate control, and automation to work together rather than operate as separate systems.
By collaborating with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, Apple is expanding its smart home ecosystem with accessories that combine established hardware expertise with Apple’s software, automation, and privacy features.
The collection’s appeal will depend on its real-world performance, regional availability, and compatibility with existing home setups. Still, the unified setup process, connected security features, and energy-management tools could make it an attractive option for households already using an iPhone and other Apple devices.
For now, the announced launch schedule gives prospective buyers time to compare the products and check which features will be supported in their region before deciding whether to upgrade their smart home.
